Dodge Challenger SRT Demon 170 Pricing is Strong in Online Auctions

When the 2023 Dodge Challenger SRT Demon 170 was introduced last spring as the first production muscle car with more than a thousand horsepower while being limited to 3,000 units for the United States (and another 300 for Canada), it was obvious that this was going to be a hot car for flippers. Since the number of deliveries began ramping up back in November, we have seen scores of these cars listed for sale by dealerships in social media groups while private owners began preparing their 1,025-horsepower Dodge Challengers for auction. A few have already rolled across the stage at high profile collector’s auctions, but a larger number have already sold via the online auction website Bring A Trailer, and so far, pricing is pretty strong for a brand new car.

Bring A Trailer Dodge Challenger SRT Demon 170

In looking through the Dodge Challenger historical listings on Bring A Trailer, it looks like the first 2023 SRT Demon 170 to sell on that popular auction site went to the highest bidder back on December 8th. That was a Pitch Black car (#0391) with carbon fiber wheels and the Premium Group, including full Demonic Red leather interior. The sticker price was $129,451 and it sold on BaT for $240,000 – roughly $110,000 over MSRP.

The second Dodge Challenger SRT Demon 170 to sell on BaT closed on December 22 with a price of $210,000. That was a Destroyer Gray car (#1258) with carbon fiber wheels, black cloth interior and an MSRP of $116,736. Eight days later, a Sublime Demon 170 (#2049) with aluminum wheels and black cloth interior sold on BaT for “just” $181,000 with an original MSRP of $116,641. This Sublime car has proven to be the low water mark thus far, as all of the other selling prices since then have been higher – as are the top bids of current live auctions for these Mopar muscle cars. However, Demon 170 #2049 still sold for roughly $64,000 over MSRP.

Bring A Trailer Dodge Challenger SRT Demon 170

So far in January, Dodge Challenger SRT Demon 170s on Bring A Trailer have sold for $205,000 (Sublime #941, MSRP $123,736) and $253,000 (Sublime #298, MSRP $135,541, shown above), while a Pitch Black Demon 170 (#1,416, MSRP $118,951) is currently at $200,000 with 5 days of bidding remaining.

Based on current selling prices on Bring A Trailer, if you bought a 2023 Dodge Challenger SRT Demon 170 with additional dealer markup (ADM) of $50,000 or less, you could sell the car right away and make a profit. If you paid $100,000 or more in ADM, making money on a quick flip is going to be a bit tougher, but it is still possible with the right buyer at auction.
