In 2023, Dodge sold more cars than Ford, if one defines “cars” in the traditional manner as sedans and coupes. Ford sold two types of car, the GT (31 of them) and the Mustang (48,605). Dodge, meanwhile, sold 75,920 sedans (Chargers) and 44,960 coupes (Challengers).
The Mustang did beat the Challenger in sales, though not by a large margin; and both clobbered the outgoing Camaro, which only had 31,028 sales for the year—and that was a 26% increase over 2022.

David Zatz started what was to become the world’s biggest, most comprehensive Mopar site in 1994 as he pursued a career in organizational research and change. After a chemo-induced break, during which he wrote car books covering Vipers, minivans, and Jeeps, he returned with Patrick Rall to create StellPower.com for daily news, and to set up MoTales for mo’ tales.
David Zatz has around 30 years of experience in covering Chrysler/Mopar news and history, and most recently wrote Century of Chrysler, a 100-year retrospective on the Chrysler marque.
