World’s Quickest Dodge Charger Hellcat Record Changes Twice in a Week

After becoming the first Dodge Charger SRT Hellcat driver to run in the 8-second range back in 2019, Zdung Ho held the record for the quickest Hellcat sedan in the world, with his personal best last year sitting at 7.62, until early 2023. That was when Colby Davis and his Charger SRT Hellcat claimed the world record in May with a 7.536. Davis would cut his personal best and the world record down to a 7.50 later in 2023, but since then, there have been no changes at the top of the list for the world’s quickest Dodge Charger SRT Hellcat.

However, in the course of a few days earlier this month, the world record for the quickest Dodge Charger SRT Hellcat changed hands twice, with Zdung Ho resetting the record at TX2K24 with a 7.48 at 184 miles per hour. A few days later, Colby Davis headed to the track with his Charger and broke the record set by Ho – laying down a 7.35 at 186 miles per hour.

That puts Davis back in the top spot with Ho in second, but with each of these record-setting Chargers having some significant changes since their last records, we wanted to look at what has changed as these two four-door titans battle onward for the world record. Had the two set the record a bit further apart, we would have had two individual pieces, but since Davis reclaimed the record before we could cover Ho’s record, we wanted to include all of the applicable information on both vehicles.

Zdung Ho’s Dodge Charger SRT Hellcat Goes 7.48

Zdung Ho’s Dodge Charger SRT Hellcat is powered by a 441-cubic-inch Gen III Hemi from Demon Performance and TKM. This current engine has slightly higher compression than the similar engine that he used to run the 7.62 back in January 2023. His Hemi features ThiTek cylinder heads, a Winberg billet crankshaft, Wiseco Boostline rods, Diamond pistons, a custom Demon Performance camshaft, a Manton Roller Rocker System, Stainless Works longtube headers, Nitrous Outlet intake spacer plates and a 3.8-liter Whipple supercharger. Ho handles the tuning himself, via his tuning brand ZHTunes.

The power from that blown-and-bottled Hemi is sent towards the rear wheels by means of an M&M TH400 with Neil Chance torque converter, a Driveshaft Shop carbon fiber driveshaft and a 9″ differential from Innovative Machine Solutions with 3.40 gears paired with new axles from Driveshaft Shop.

Finally, he removed some weight since his last record, with the car tipping the scales with him in the driver’s seat at 4,220 pounds at TX2K24. At that event, Ho made it to the final round of the heavyweight class, but when the transbrake didn’t set, he pushed through the beams and lost on the red light start, but with a new personal best of 7.48, Ho reset the quarter mile world record for the Dodge Charger SRT Hellcat.

Colby Davis’ Dodge Charger SRT Hellcat Runs a 7.35

Less than a week after Zdung Ho set a new Dodge Charger SRT Hellcat quarter mile world record, Colby Davis was quick to reclaim the record that he has held for nearly a year. Davis’ Charger ran a 7.35 at 186 on an engine build that made 2,156 horsepower at the rear wheels – up from roughly 1,830 horsepower when he claimed the world record in 2023.

Colby Davis’ Dodge Charger SRT Hellcat is making more than triple the stock output of 707 horsepower, and numbers like that require lots of the best aftermarket parts available. Davis provided a list of all of the key components that he uses to make all of that power and send it to the ground, along with the people who have played key roles in his ongoing defense of the Charger SRT Hellcat world record.
