Software issues can cause 4xe-equipped 2021-2023 Jeep Wranglers to stall out. Around 63,000 Wrangler 4xes from these model years are being recalled in the US. Similar recalls are usually conducted globally.
Affected vehicles were made from September 2, 2020 through August 17, 2022. The software in question is part of the transmission controller. Jeeps without PHEV hybrid setups are not affected.
Globally, there have been two accidents and one injury reported which may have been caused by the issue—and around 200 warranty claims on the issue. The investigation was first opened in September 2021. Customers should be getting notifications by mid-January.

David Zatz started what was to become the world’s biggest, most comprehensive Mopar site in 1994 as he pursued a career in organizational research and change. After a chemo-induced break, during which he wrote car books covering Vipers, minivans, and Jeeps, he returned with Patrick Rall to create StellPower.com for daily news, and to set up MoTales for mo’ tales.
David Zatz has around 30 years of experience in covering Chrysler/Mopar news and history, and most recently wrote Century of Chrysler, a 100-year retrospective on the Chrysler marque.
