For all the crisis talk around the UAW strike, particularly from leaders of Ford, one might think that American automakers and Stellantis were in danger of bankruptcy. GM’s leaders don’t seem to agree; they announced no change in their dividend, set at 9¢ per share for the last five quarters (since 8/30/2022). Stockholders as of September 1 will get the dividend, which works out to roughly a 1.2% yield.
Ford does have a much higher dividend, with a yield of 5.15%. It has issued dividends of 15¢ per share since April 2018, with the exception of a special extra dividend of 65¢ this past February.

David Zatz started what was to become the world’s biggest Mopar site (Allpar) in 1994. After a chemo-induced 2007-2010 break, during which he wrote car books covering Vipers, minivans, and Jeeps, he returned with Patrick Rall to create StellPower.com for daily news, and to set up MoTales for mo’ tales (Chrysler history and “permanent” car and truck pages). He most recently wrote Century of Chrysler, a 100-year retrospective on the marque.
