Peugeot E-3008 Could Preview American Market Stellantis EVs

Peugeot recently introduced the 2023 E-3008, and while that vehicle will likely never have any role in the United States market, it is based on the STLA Medium platform. We know that the STLA Medium platform will be used for vehicles sold in North America at some point, so there is a possibility that some reshaped and rebadged version of this vehicle could find its way into the U.S. market, but it is more likely that the electric drivetrain architecture will be featured in a Dodge, Chrysler or Jeep vehicle.

Seeing as how we are likely to see this chassis with this electric drivetrain offered under the body of a vehicle from the Mopar side of the family, here is a look at the specifications of the 2023 Peugeot E-3008. Keep in mind that there could be changes made to the electrical drivetrain to accommodate differences in the various local markets, but if nothing else, the E-3008 gives us a good idea of what the STLA Medium EV platform can do.

Peugeot E-3008 Dimensions

While the dimensions of a Dodge, Chrysler or Jeep vehicle riding on the STLA Medium EV platform are likely to have unique measurements, we wanted to start by going over the size of the Peugeot E-3008 for reference.

Peugeot E-3008

Wheelbase – 107.5 inches (2.73m)
Length – 178.7 inches (4.54m)
Width – 76.7 inches (1.95m)
Height – 64.6 inches (1.64m)
Weight – 4,660 – 4850 pounds (2114-2199kg)

For comparison, the 2022 Jeep Cherokee has a wheelbase of 107.1 inches, a length of 182 inches, a width of 74.9 inches and a height of 67.8 inches. In other words, the Peugeot E-3008 has a similar wheelbase to the modern Jeep Cherokee, but it is a touch shorter front to back and top to bottom while also being a bit wider than the midsized Jeep. Again, a Dodge, Chrysler or Jeep vehicle on the STLA Medium platform will likely have unique dimensions from the E-3008, but we should expect an SUV on this platform to be relatively similar in size to the Cherokee. However, the Jeep Cherokee curb weight tops out around 4,300 pounds, so the STLA Medium EV SUV is heavier – but that is to be expected due to the massive battery packs.

STLA Medium Power

Speaking of the battery pack, the 2023 Peugeot E-3008 is offered with two different 400V options – 73kWh or 98kWh. The 73kWh hour is featured in the 210 (Single Motor, FWD) and 320 (Dual Motor, AWD) models while the 230 Long Range (Single Motor, FWD) model comes with the 98kWh battery system. The 210 and 320 models offer a range of about 326 miles (525km) while the 230 Long Range offers about 435 miles (700km) on a single charge.

In terms of power, the Peugeot E-3008 trim levels are named for the amount of horsepower offered, so the 210 model offers 210 horsepower, the 320 offers 320 horsepower and the 230 Long Range offers 230 horsepower. The 210 and 230 models each also offer 253 lb-ft of torque (343nm) at the front wheels while the 320 packs 375 lb-ft (509nm), with 253 lb-ft (343nm) at the front wheels and 122 lb-ft (166nm) out back.

In terms of performance, the Peugeot E-3008 210 will sprint from a stop to 62 miles per hour (100kmh) in 8.7 seconds and cover the quarter mile (measured at 400m, which is actually 1,312 feet, so a short quarter mile) in 16.5 seconds while the 230 Long Range takes 8.9 seconds to get to 62 and 16.6 seconds for the 400-meter “quarter mile”. Both of those front-drive models offer a top speed of 105 miles per hour (170kmh). The Peugeot E-3008 320 will move out from a stop to 62 in 6.4 seconds, covering the 400m track in 14.7 seconds and reaching an overall top speed of 112 miles per hour (180kmh).

Again, there could be slight variations in the figures due to changes from one market to another, but the numbers above provide a good idea as to what we can expect from a Dodge, Chrysler or Jeep SUV on the STLA Medium platform.
