This past Saturday brought the 2023 Woodward Dream Cruise to Metro Detroit, but more importantly to many, August 19th marked the official beginning of deliveries of the 2023 Dodge Challenger SRT Demon 170. The Dodge brand held a press conference early that morning to introduce a new line of automotive detailing supplies in cooperation with television host and legendary car collector Jay Leno.
“When it comes to really caring about and maintaining the most amazing vehicles in the world, there’s really no one better to team up with than Jay Leno,” said Tim Kuniskis, Dodge brand chief executive officer – Stellantis. “Jay’s a member of the Brotherhood of Muscle, and we couldn’t be more excited to join together our Direct Connection brand with Jay Leno’s Garage in order to introduce a premium new line of co-branded car care products for enthusiasts.”
While the main focus of that press conference was to introduced the Jay Leno’s Garage/Direct Connection detailing products, the company used that early morning event to deliver the first 2023 Dodge Challenger SRT Demon 170 to Leno. As you can see in the images here, Jay Leno’s 2023 Demon 170 appears to be Octane Red with the satin black finish on the hood, roof and trunk lid, carbon fiber wheels and a custom California license plate that red “LENO 170”.
After receiving his 2023 Dodge Challenger SRT Demon 170, Leno cruised with Tim Kuniskis (who was also driving a 170) from the location of the press conference to the Modern Street Hemi Shootout series parking area for the Woodward Dream Cruise. As we previously reported, Dodge was sharing the display area with the Modern Street Hemi Shootout, so Leno, Kuniskis and the Dodge team spent time signing autographs and posing for pictures with the folks from the MSHS before hitting the road in the afternoon. There are tons of pictures of Leno and the Dodge team at the parking area on the MSHS Facebook group, which you can check out by clicking here.
While Jay Leno taking delivery of his 2023 Dodge Challenger SRT Demon 170 along the Woodward Dream Cruise route, and then cruising Woodward with his brand new, 1,025-horsepower Mopar muscle car is a cool story – there is a bigger bit of news here. With Leno taking delivery of his car officially marks the beginning of delivers of the 2023 Demon 170. All of the other folks who have ordered one of these cars are now that much closer to receiving theirs and in speaking with a group of folks waiting to take delivery, quite a few have been told to expect their cars to show up very soon.
