Production cuts, retooling close Gladiator plant

With Gladiators selling at tens of thousands off their admittedly inflated list prices, Stellantis has finally shut down the Toledo, Ohio plant which makes them for six weeks. After a two week layoff at both plants, Gladiator employees will be reassigned to help at the neighboring Wrangler plant.

Jeep Gladiator sales

Jeep Wranglers and Gladiators have been clogging dealer lots across the country despite hefty discounting, while the Wagoneer and Grand Wagoneer have picked up in popularity.  Many observers have pointed the finger at excessive price increases during years of car shortages, which led to massive rebates and discounts when inventories stabilized.

According to a company representative, some of the six weeks will be used to retool for a new model, widely believed to be the Gladiator 4xe.
