Ford had two recalls this week—one because the battery can lose so much power the engine stops working, without the computer noticing (2021-24 Bronco Sport, 2022-23 Maverick); and one because it stuck the wrong labels into 2024 Mavericks. Neither was as embarrassing as Tesla’s problem with the rubber brake coverings slipping off the stainless steel pedals and causing the accelerator to stick in the “floored” position, which is being fixed by drilling through both and attaching a rivet.
While there were no Mopar recalls as such, the 2021-22 Maserati Ghibli and Quattroporte were recalled because of a leaking fuel line sensor housing. Only 58 cars are affected (30 Quattroportes and 28 Ghiblis); it could cause a fire, but none have occurred so far. There has been a single warranty claim. The part was purchased from Hutchinson Poland.
Finally, 2023 Kia Niro EVs and 2024 Kia EV9s had badly tightened differential bolts, 2023-24 Toyota Priuses rear doors may open unexpectedly, and 2018-21 Lexus LS and LS Hybrids may not deploy their front airbags properly.
