FCA US is recalling a number of 2021-2022 SUVs with V6 engines because the EGR valve may stick open. The recall only affects the V6 engine.
Only vehicles made from August 21, 2021, to November 24,2021 are affected. The fault is in the EGR valves, supplied by BorgWarner, and the symptom is power loss. There have been 230 warranty claims for the issue, though only a bit over a thousand vehicles were affected. These break down by U.S. sale (vehicles sold in other countries are also being recalled) as:
- 2021 Durango: 130
- 2021 Jeep Grand Cherokee “Classic” (WK): 594
- 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee “New” (WL): 1 (this is not a misprint)
- 2021-2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee L: 583
The fix is to replace the EGR valve assembly.
