Minor Cherokee, Pacifica recalls

2022 jeep cherokee trailhawk

It was a week for mildly odd recalls as 2023 Chevy Colorado/GMC Canyons were brought back for over-tightened front wheel hub bolts, 2022 Jeep Cherokees, came back for broken turn signals, and 2024 Chrysler Pacificas, including Voyagers, had an early recall for unintentional deactivation of traction control. 2024 Hyundai Santa Fes could have obstructed rear … Read more

We all missed Chrysler’s centennial

1924 Chrysler car

A century ago, Chrysler officially launched its first car, the Model B-70. It had an advanced, high-compression straight six engine boasting 68-70 horsepower, depending on the source; only one American car had a higher top speed than the Chrysler B-70’s 70 mph, and that was a luxurious straight-eight Packard. … There are still nearly eleven months for Stellantis to acknowledge the centennial of Chrysler as a marque, but it’s too late to celebrate its actual production start date on time.

Who was #1 in 2023? Trucks, vans, and minivans in the USA

2025 Ram 1500 Ramcharger Tradesman

In the all-important pickup category, Ram lost some ground to Ford and GM. Ford sold 750,789 F-series pickups and chassis cabs, across all size and weight classes; GM sold 555,148 Silverados and 295,737 Sierras. Windsor plant

60% of Unifor members voted for the proposed contract with Stellantis, which means that it has been ratified. Windsor minivan plant down

Windsor plant

The Windsor minivan plant has cancelled all production for today without giving a reason. Skilled trades and employees engaged in launching new vehicles were called in for work.

The UAW has struck a number of Stellantis parts distribution centers, which will start to impact dealers trying to get service parts and may impact factories as well. However, the company has a large inventory of minivans at dealerships, so the production stoppage might not be related to the strike.

Clarifying the “selling the Chrysler headquarters” rumor and plan

CTC partial blueprint

Yesterday, a rumor that Stellantis was planning to sell the Chrysler Technology Center, whose campus also houses the American headquarters, made the rounds—and turned out to be both accurate and possibly a little misleading.

The rumor was all the more credible after Ford chose to move its engineering headquarters from Dearborn to a brand new campus in Mexico, an oddly under-reported event which though covered by the Reuters news service didn’t make many front pages. Yesterday, in the absence of official comments
